CG-motorsport personal review

Featured Replies

Everyone,

I have recently had a stage 3 clutch and single mass flywheel conversion kit fitted to my Mk1 Fabia vrs.

I must say that the whole process has been a massive success! I ordered the parts from a company called "CG-Motorsport", which some of you may not have heard of. They are actively interested in expanding onto the Skoda market and my car was one of the first they have interacted with in this way.

I encountered a few hiccups along the way what with the incorrect parts being supplied to the garage undertaking my work however, when I approached 'Andy' at CG-Motorsports and explained that I had been sent the incorrect parts he was very polite, very optimistic and more than happy to re issue the correct parts instantly. On top of this, they were further more happy to pay for the extra labour fees and admin charges accumulated.

Updates on the clutch's performance will follow (When I have covered enough mileage), but so far so happy.

I recommend CG-Motorsports to anyone as they have delivered exceptional service and offer a vast range of products.

Thanks again, Chris.

Yes they are a good clutch mate im very happy with mine and it holds my power very well as im runin a hybrid etc

haha lol it may well save a little money but i just couldnt be asked to even think about fitting it lol.

Got a ramp at work tho haha

Great to hear this - Thanks for taking the time to let us know. How loud is the SMF on this kit? You say stage 3 - what does this consist of? 5 paddle clutch and SMF?

No worries seen as they were honestly really good and actually took the time to work out what you wanted rather than selling the most expensive part and there customer service is really good so thought I would do my bit :) (kudos for me) it's a smf yes same weightish flywheel and a 6 paddle clutch. The chatter is pretty loud I must admit but the gear changes are amazing :) need to let it bed in for a while but will add an updat on how it goes soon :)

Would you do a video of the chatter, if you have time, of course?

Also, does the chatter dissapear when clutch dipped/depressed at a stand still?

I wonder what Clutch/Flywheel that is though - they all sound different. (i think!)

does the noise go when clutch is depressed?

Don't know if anyone is still following this thread lol it's been a while but just an update as its been in for a few months now.

The gear changes just get better as time goes on, it's alot easier to drive now (all bedded in) the hardest part after getting this kit fitted was pulling away (especially in nose to tail traffic) but once you master the bite point your off (LITERALLY)

The chatter is actually pretty loud as you may all have heard from others who have had sed kit fitted but you learn to love it.

To answer the questions above, if they have been answered by others my bad but anyway I can do a vidio yes I shall try to upload it this weekend if time permits :) and yes the chatter does go away when the clutch is fully depressed (you will find your clutch on the floor alot in busy places lol people can hear it) a mate of mine described the noise like getting a bag of marbles and throwing sed bag into a tumble dryer :/ personally it's not that bad to the people who know why it's making the noise.

Overall awesome clutch, no slip AT ALL.

How much torque you putting through it dude?

Im getting exactly the same as you Chris - Its done just over 50 miles now and seems to be nice and consistent. Lucky its not a heavy clutch, as i too hold the clutch down in standstill traffic... chatter chatter chatter... :D

Thanks for the review guys. Its nice to see people who understand the not so attractive side of clutch but its necessity to harness big power that the VRs allows. Lets hope we can get some more Briskodan's into our clutch kit.

Im sure we can think up a special offer for anyone interested in getting one fitted before xMas. PM me if interested.

Again thanks for the review, you have to love that chatter.

Hello I've got the dual friction one from cg motorsports but still using the dmf as it was ok to use. No point wasting the moneys. I've done about 150 miles so far and nothing above 3500 rpm. But you can tell its got a paddle on one side. I nearly stalled it lol the first few times I drove it. I ordered it on a Sunday them hand made it on Monday and picked it up in the afternoon. So far so good. I would highly recommend theses guys.

Joshh...I'm not putting that much through it at the moment 310lbft but it just the way it drives when giving it stick that's awesome.....dump the clutch at stand still (not good I know but chavs **** me off) and it just grips all the way through :) the clutch I'm running is a little excessive for what I have at the mo but after crimbo hopefully a little more power :) so went with the one I have for a bit of safety :)

Nosmokenopoke it does get a little tiring after a while though lol but you soon begin to use the clutch to get people looking ;)

As ant-vrs said I would also highly recommend these guys awesome company with big potential for the vag group

Mine is only on a stage 1 map at the moment. Full hybrid mapping coming in the next month or two, so will report back then,

Think i was 1 of the first people too get a clutch off these guys and mine has now done afew thousand miles (with me driveing like i stole it and about 230bhp) and it has given me no bother at all evan with launch control mapped in good bit off kit for the money it cost saved me a fortune over the more exoensive £1000+ kits and this 1 does the same job
