Can a VW dealer code my Skoda?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I asked my local VW dealer today if they were able to do some VAG-COM coding for me on my Octavia MY11, some simple lighting changes. To my surprise, they told me that they couldn't code anything because the car isn't a VW. I thought VAG-COM worked across VW, Audi, Skoda and SEAT, and that licensed dealers would be able to do this.

Is this normal practice? :wonder:

Dealers use a VAG software called VAS, they dont use VAG-com or VCDS.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I've never used VAG-COM myself, nor have I had my car coded before. Does VAS work on VW, Audi, Skoda and SEAT? Maybe they have a specific version of VAS for VW only, if there is such a thing. I didn't check into that ... hm.

VAS PC is being phased out now for the new system ODIS.

But either way it is brand specific so only works on the brand you are licenced for.
