Tyre wear on brand new tyres

Featured Replies

Morning all

Had two rear tyres fitton 2 months ago but passenger rear had a deep wear on the inside.

I took it to tyre shop who blamed suspension and told me to either replace or run flat. They also mentioned to ask on here funny enough.

Would this mean gettin all wheels aligned

Did you check the tyre pressure yourself after leaving from having the tyres fitted,

& have you checked since if they were at the correct pressure?

(& also re-set your TPMS. 'tyre pressure monitoring system')

??? Did they check what pressure you were running when you went back in to show them?

If everything was right,

you will need to get the Suspension & alignment checked

Running it with less pressure (I'm sure they never advised to run it flat) would wear it quicker.

Did your old tyres wear the same?

Assuming you don't always carry an abnormaly heavy load on onside rear, this type of wear suggests camber is not correct, showing too much negative camber. Can be misalignment, can be worn bushes. As yours is a Superb II estate it's unlikely to be bushes unless you've done stellar mileage.

I would start by getting it aligned and while there, as long as they not directional tyres, get them to swap tyre around so that worn side is now on outside.

Cheers

Steve
