What car after the Fabia vRS?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just thinking on what my next car will be. I miss the sound and revs that you get from a petrol.

I like the the size of the Fabia, wouldn't want a large car like the octavia.

Friends got a s3, it's ok but it couldn't pull away from the Fabia vRS up until 70 when I bailed

Don't think I could stand a drop in performance however.

Would be looking at second hand cars. Maybe 10k budget if I save for a bit.

Any ideas?

Focus RS? Would have to be a slightly older one, or the fiesta ST. Golf GTI? Astra vxr?

You have quite a choice with a budget of 10k I would of though :)

Crazy suggestion here,

but if not some VW Golf, how about a Skoda Fabia Mk 2 vRS?

£10,000 gets an 18 month old ,low mileage one.

(still with that 18 months of warranty)

Maybe not as robust as a Mk1, but then not as slow either.

Maybe worth a test drive and see what you think.

I was going to say mkII Fabia VRS too.

There have been some issues, but a lot of them seem to be OK.

It's not a lot of years until the mkIII Fabia comes out, so prices are only going one way.

Wether you are changing now or in a year or two you'll be able to get one a year or two old for that budget.

Buying something more interesting (S3 etc...) just means it'll be older.

So it's down to if you want a better older car or not.

Go for old skool weekend car :D save the rest on mods and maintenance for both cars  .

Good call there.

Fiesta ST

Not that fast and incredibly thirsty. Only 150 bhp from a 2.0 litre, normally aspirated. They are cheap to get however, probably about 65% the price of a MkI Fabia vRS of same age and miles. The Clio 197 is a lot better than a Fiesta ST, if you can stomach the fuel bills.

Mk 5 Golf GTI. Great cars. I think 10K would nag a decent one.

10k on a Mk5 GTI would get you a really, really tidy Ed30, too :)

All depends on whether you need good mpg.

S3's would be way faster but generally regarded as a bit bland to drive like many Audi's. Petrols are better drivers cars generally.

Clio is a good shout, Punto Abarth, CTR, Cupra or Golf.

Not petrol I know but stunning car

ED30 Golf, or a seat leon cupra k1 edition if you saved a lil bit more.

i went from a fabia vrs to a civic type r. never really looked back...do miss the MPG mind lol

The Ed30 Golf is a lovley car.
