Oil in turbo hose

Featured Replies

Hi

Been getting black smoke at high revs on my superb 1.9td 2007

Car is used as a taxi and has 111,000 miles

Had a look at air filter as most obvious culprit

Didnt seem too bad ! but noticed that the big hose that runs from Airbox

Down to tubo, had a coating of oil at the tubo end

Not sure what this means ? car still pulling fine but a little drony

Completely normal. The oil is from the crankcase breather.

Next time you service it with 507.00 oil and a reputable German oil filter, disconnect the lower hose at the intercooler. A spoonful of oil here is normal, a cupfull is bad and any more will cause an engine runaway. Use a Mann & Hummel air filter element and change every 20k miles. Remove and blow out the filter box at the same time.

Ensure that the breather system is completely clear fom the puck on the rocker cover to the intake hose. Any restriction here will cause oil to be forced past the turbocharger shaft seals into the intake and exhaust. This will cause smoke, high oil consumption and a possible engine runaway if neglected.

Cheers rotodiesel Will check all hoses tomorrow always use 507.00 and get my filters from TPS so think they are mann filters
