Confused do you have to declare fmic?

Featured Replies

Hi peps just quick question, i rang my insurance co(aviva) to tell them that I'm changing my smic for a Fmic.

. I asked will it affect my insurance and by how much???

Then man on phone replied no sir you don't have tO declare he even checked with his manager?????

Is this right or wrong???

Don't fancy losing my car over Fmic because everything else is declared.

.many thanks lee

flearat87,

As you say you have Insurance that already must allow for Modifications,

& you have Mods declared.

I would still be declaring that in writting, what ever they say,

since i would declare anything that might result in a performance increase.(Even when not)

or even effects or not the crumple zone, or the 'Fuel cut' off or Air bag deployment.

Often the Accident Assessor is looking at Insurance Claims

& accident damage that will cost dfferent from a standard repair.

Any 'Insurance' repair being carried out will often be to standard spec only, so the parts being fitted will be as they were originally.

Unless Declared Mods & Agreed Value.

Even though they are saying that you don't have to declare it I would insist it is added to your policy.

This way you have written proof that the insurance company is aware of this particular modification.

It will be far easier to do it now then trying to do it after they have refused to pay out for an undeclared modification if you have to make a claim.

Thanks for the headsup I did think that.so i even recorded the phone call so they couldn't try pulling a fast one on me but going to ring them bk anyways thinks again

I strongly suggest you ask for the confirmation of the modification in writing from your insurer.
