please help me car is awful

Featured Replies

Did the n249, n112 and sai removal and now I can't drive above 2k rpm otherwise the car stutters and then conks out... Can't even reverse up hill... Please help what does it sound like it could be? Need the car for work tomorrow...

Have any pics and have you put vac pipe from recircuation valve piped back to inlet manifold

Yes I have and there are pics on my project thread

Do I need 3 resistors as I only have 2 in so n249 doesn't have a resistor in but I pulled the relay out so I thought that would be ok... But scanned on phone and it came up with 2 faults one sai and the other was unknown

Things to check

1, pipe on inlet pipe blanked off,

2, pipe from manifold to dv,

3, pipe from manifold to fuel pressure regulator,

4, the 3 resistors shouldn't matter to much car should run fine without them just make sure there taped back nice and neat

The SAI fault is probably down to no resistor or even with resistor folks still get the error code(i did and got mapped out)

as stated not fitting resistors should not make car run badly

chances are as also stated is you have either not blanked a plug somewhere on inlet when you removed piping or you have not fitted piping correctly and air is getting in .

Radiator light is on and put a litre of coolant in...

Have you checked oil cap to make sure there is no mayo there?

  • Author

No I haven't Phil as I assumed there would be nothing wrong with that part

On the bottom post pics you have a brass T piece under on coolent pipe, one end goes onto top rad hose, one end onto fuel rail to expansion bottle, where does the other end go that dissapears behind battery tray towards inlet

To the air intake like the hard lines that were removed did

errrr coolent hoses don't go into intake system your filling turbo and intercooler and engine with water if it is

take pipe out of intake pipe and blank both ends off and drain intercooler of coolent and finger crossed its ok,

Don't run the engine again until you have drained intake system of coolent else you will fook the engine

Thought it that might have been the case.... Feel like such a turd. Thank you for the advice though

I'm confused?

You plugged your coolant line into air intake line?

Take intake pipe off turbo aswell and drain turbo of water and hope to god you've not damaged anything

Gonna let my local garage sort my f*** up, collecting it on Monday.... Found a positive out of all of it which if the turbo is dead I'll just get them to stick a k04 on instead

well they won't just be able to do that as you will need a lot of other stuff to allow K04 to work properly unless you mean do all that which means a heavy bill at your garage.

Ohh.... thought it was just bolt on? knew it would be a bit more laggy

Nope, you need new manifold, downpipe, intercooler (not essential but a very very very good idea), injectors etc. And you need to get the ECU mapped to suit.

You can get a K03 hybrid that basically has K04 internals in it

Sorry nope not that easy.

Need to read up a bit buddy and find out whats what. As mentioned a K04 needs different downpipe, injectors, MAF, TIP and manifold. Basically all these things off the car that the K04 is fitted to as std,(Audi TT/S3 or LCR) and then a good map. Or you get a K04-001(aftermarket alternative) which is a same fitment as the std KO3s but limits you to around 250bhp or as mentioned a K03s Hybrid(with K04 type internals) Both these still need a map though and a FMIC but you don't need to change manifold / downpipe etc.
