Help on LED numberplate bulbs

Featured Replies

I'm struggling to find suitable/decent numberplate bulbs. The ones I have in at the moment flicker, i've looked on ebay and there seems to be canbus NO ERROR and canbus FREE

What ones do I go for?

Appreciate any help given

Cheers, Ollie

I would sort out why they are flickering before spending any hard earned money.

They will be flickering cos they are led won't they? The canbus system won't like it hence why the flicker

I had this on my previous car

What bulb type are they in the fabia?

I got 2 for £4 delivered on eBay last week there spot on

I have canbus free and they dont flicker.

i tried to fit some earlier, i bought "no error" ones of ebay....and guess what?

yup theres an error

when i mailed the seller he quote a passage at the bottem of the add about some cars needing added resistors to help and has yet to reply since i asked how he could advertise "error free" when they give errors on some cars, thats like saying "fits all cars, but only some makes and models"

I got mine from Halfrauds cost about £10 no error and not flickering. Had them about a year now.

Are they 42mm festoons? Bought one for the interior bulb so just wondering if it's the same. Thanks

Yeah they should be the same.

I don't have error codes on my vrs but previous batches did flicker, I believe the reason was loose connection or holder, perhaps because all the boot slamming (by the missus, not me :p). So I used some cable tie to keep it 100% connected. mines been running for nearly a year without blowing now :)

38mm festoons IIRC. I bought a pack of 5 for about £3 and fitted. One lasted only 3 weeks, started flickering for a few days before dying completely, but you get what you pay for I suppose.

Interior centre bulb is bigger, had to bend the metal prongs towards the centre to get the numberplate festoon to fit.

Mk 1 vRS bulb warning indicator doesn't come on for sidelights or numberplate bulbs that are out, so shouldn't matter what bulbs you buy as long as they fit and are the right way around surely?

Does anyone have a link to some which would be reasonably priced but not bad quality please? Anyone who has had experience in having some for a good few months without them flickering?

Brilliant, cheers guys :)

I was a little nervous about using cheap eBay suppliers as if something goes wrong after a couple of weeks, it's very difficult to get an issue resolved.

I ended up going with a company that a customer of ours recommended a while back called Ultra LEDs and ordered a set of these: 37mm Cool White Festoon

At £4 each, they aren't the cheapest but I've had them for about 4 years. They were fitted to my bora before and are now fitted to my fabia. Still going strong!

Any before and after pics for the brighter rear no plate bulbs?
