Will claying remove fairly severe water marks?

I live in a hard water area and I was wondering whether or not I need to dry the car post wash, pre clay?

What do you think?

POLISH WILL TOO

QD WILL TOO

You dont need to dry the car before you clay..It needs to be wet

In your case, I would use your QD as the lubricant with the clay on the wet car...Diluted 50/50 if youre that bothered about the water

Then pressure wash rinse the car and dry immediately before you polish it and then seal or wax or both

I'll say this again....Water marks ONLY happen if you dont dry the car properly

I'm well aware of how water marks happen and that's why I'm doing my best to A) learn how to prevent them in the first place (Dry The Car) and learn what to do when they do appear...as they always do coz I cant get round the car with the drying towels quick enough.

I'm a little surprised you're saying that I should rinse the car AFTER its been clayed because any water marks I've removed with the clay will return again after the rinse. I was just gonna dry each panel as I clayed it. Still, once I've clayed, (and now rinsed), I'm gonna give it a coat of AG SRP and then a coat of AG EGP so, as you say that the SRP will remove the marks...I should be okay.

I must say I'm looking forward to doing it...I've never done anything to a car before other than a wash and an occasional polish.

I'm a little suprised you cant get around the car quick enough to prevent spotting

What drying cloth are you using?

I dry mine in around 2 minutes tops

Its realy quick with a decent cloth

I have a Chemical Guys Wooly Mammoth..Nothing out there is better

Down side..Its thick and large..I use a spin dryer to wring it out

Rinsing after claying removes any contaminents that the clay may have flicked off the paint..Its possibly a little OTT but every little helps to prevent a scratch

Heres mine after a detailing session:

I use two Sonus Drying Towels. I got em from `Clean your Car`. I'm obviously much slower than you are, Chris!

BTW, how long does it take you from dirty car to that?
