Stutter with EGR delete ( no mil )

Featured Replies

While servicing the car today (fabia vrs BLT) i was going to try and get rid or reduce the stutter untill i got an egr delete, i found the car already had a delete pipe but i was to believe this would eliminate stutter ? im confused, any ideas ?

is the ASV still connected?

It's got neither of them. It's just a straight metal pipe from the flange with the boost pipe connected with a jubilee clip

You need the ASV as it will stutter when shutting off apparently

ASV is anti shudder valve, and has no impact on how the engine runs

Your stutter can be a few things, Maf sensor, if you unplug the maf and see if it improves the stutter.

Is it a stutter? Or like a misfire?

Is the egr pipe blocked completely? Has the car been mapped?

It's more of a stutter, don't think the car has been mapped . Not maf related. Egr completely blacked off.

It's not asv related as no shudder/trying to run on.

It is only slight. Doesn't seem to slow the car down to much / if any.

Also fitted a new fuel filter and cleaned air filter. All boost pipes clipped in and sealed . No loose pipes/plugs in engine bay.

No fault codes and readiness is ok

why not say all that in first post rather than just a random stutter and a complete egr delete

are you SURE its not maf related? Have you unplugged the maf and tried?

Mine was slightly off, no fault codes, i had recently changed it. I changed it again and the car took off like a rocket.

I unplugged it but didn't fix, thought is could be open but would bring light on with that and still getting readings

Wondering how you don't have an EML on and the EGR removed on the BLT engine as it has an electronic ASV

mapped out maybe?

As far as I was aware you can't map out the BLT EGR.

Definitely a software change unless the EML isn't working, especially on the BLT. It can be mapped out, I've done quite a few ;)

Post EGR removal have exhaust temps been measured out of interest?

Fair few BLTs melting, as EGR is used for cylinder cooling I've often wondered if there is a correlation.

If an EGR is removed, "strictly " speaking the timing should be adjusted accordingly as the burn process is affected, but I've not seen many files with this done to be fair, though EGR removal on its own won't cause "melting" it'll be down to other modifications.

As far as I was aware you can't map out the BLT EGR.

Shark mapped mines

Yes a good mapper will be able to map a Blt egr out I.e jabba

Or shark
