Fabia Instrument Cluster - Information Display

Featured Replies

I've recenty taken delivery of a Fabia vRS and read in the owner's manual about an Information Display located between the Rev Counter & Speedo - the Menu for which is said to be accessed by pressing the rocker switch on the r/h stalk. This press action is evidently not operational on my vRS (though the rocker action does access the Multi-function indicator located in the Rev Counter positioned clock display).

I note that this Information Display is asterisked in the manual which indicates the feature is apparently only available on certain Fabia models. However I have failed to establish from studying technical data which models the feature is supplied with either fitted or as an option.

I would be grateful for any information concerning the fitment or otherwise of the Information Display Menu. Obliged.

it's not an option on UK spec cars, but it is basically the Maxidot system that is an option on the new octavia.

The handbook can be VERY confusing at times - it needs a very careful read to understand what's going on.

In the case of this display the "computer" rocker switch operates the display in the rev counter and the central panel is just warning lights...

OK - set my mind at rest. Thanks

The trip computer comes with air conditioning and as most UK cars have a/c now the majority have trip computers. All Fabia's come with free a/c at the moment anyway...

Maxi-Dot is an extra on Octavia and Superb models. Maxi-Dot gives you a large high definition display area (look at an Audi they always have them)...

I think I understood your question correctly....

I think you CAN actually get MaxiDot, but ONLY if you have the SatNav option fitted. Which imho is so incredibly overpriced that I'd never bother with it...

Cheaper to get a fully kitted PDA + software + GPS receiver which would be more flexible, transferrable and useful generally and would cost you a LOT, LOT less :)

Correct

This got me thinking, couldnt you just buy from Skoda a dashpod which had the MaxiDot display on it, that way you wouldnt have the buy the Sat Nav as a factory option to get the MaxiDot display and im sure the dashpod could easily be removed and refitted with the new dashpod which had the MaxiDot?

Hmm - interesting idea :D - kicks up IE as the Skoda site STILL sux with non-IE browsers - wake up skoda ;)
