Does your vRS "flame"?

Featured Replies

May of opened a can of worms here, but the reason i ask, is because several different people who have followed me in the past say they have seen flames coming out my exhaust when booting it. I shunned the first report as i assumed a mate of mine was pulling my leg but ive had 4 seperate people confirming it does over the past year or so?

I obviously know some turbo'd cars flame and pop like mad depending on modifications, fuelling etc as i was around for the "cruise scene" with 80's/90's turbo'd monsters flying about (bare in mind im only 24) lol.

could possibly be due to the decat but others would have to confirm that but i know mine doesnt but that might be because i have a stupid stock cat there but will soon be changed :D!!

My mates 1.8T ibiza with de-cat, miltek system, map and a few other bits pops and flames like a good'un when he's giving it some!

I assume it's down to the decat

My vrs did flame really well with decat on apparently, dont know if it does it with my sports cat on though

Will be the decat for def as any unburnt fuel would be burnt off soon as it hits cat.

yep, mine does it of full load with the decat and walbro 255 fuel pump. And I get loads of popping on over run when keeping car in a lower gear. I refitted 3 bar fpr yesterday and seem to get more popping than the 4bar fpr???

Erm wont that need remap sorting again?

Mine pops and sometimes bags when on overrun and high rpm gearshifts mine worth getting a decat as can't be doing my sportscat anygood :(

Mine pops sometimes. I have a 4 BAR FPR which isn't really needed for the Shark stage 2 map, might swap it back :p

Mine pops every now and again and you can see some white smoke if you been it hard.

I was going down the road Sunday and the coupler burst off my decat leaving it as a straight through from the decat. My god did it sound good. Blooming loud though!

I had a flame pop out the other morning . It lighten up the woods a nice pop followed after . It's defo the decat .

Not really the ECU compensates for the fuel / air mixture using the 02 sensors etc either enriching or leaning out fuel.

That is what i heard too Rob, so placed 3bar back in and does idle better, not sure if i have lost a bit of performance in mid range, hard to tell. might do some looging

You need a spark plug in your tailpipe - then bleed fuel into the exhaust after the cat ...
