Fault Code P0236 - what is the problem?

Featured Replies

I've recently had a few times where I've started the car and driven with no boost at all. If I stop and restart the car, the problem disappears.

Today it happened again at lunch time but this time the engine management light came on. The code stored is P0236 - Boost Sensor "A" Circuit performance/range

What is the most likely culprit?

Is this with VCDS or some simple OBD fault reader?

From a quick google it could be a problem with the MAP sensor.

MAP sensor in my opinion, not expensive part

that should do it

The probable causes for this code are:

  • intake/exhaust leak
  • hose connection(s)
  • MAP sensor
  • turbo boost pressure sensor

Hope this helps

Thanks for that.

As it has been on and off, its not an intake/exhaust leak or hose connection - definitely an electrical problem

map sensor
