Easy, my main contract of 4 years is no longer workable and with 90% of my turnover from them i've got to make some hard choices. Dont want to sell the VRS its great fun but I wont hesitate if the need arose.

of course, and by your avatar i assume family too, so wise choice.

Are you going to leave the remap to? Could be for the best time being.

Im running kw v1 basics (galvanised strut)

About £550 iirc and the car is transformed. Being kw they quality is already there

Thats what id go for :)

No point in spending that they are the same as the Weitec Hicon GT kit

from what i remember reading the v1s are just galvanized weitec gts, and have the same shocks, if you want the better upgraded shocks, you need the v2s or v3s, ask bowders...(where is he when you need him:>)he has had gts and now has my old v2s, he will tell you the difference in ride quality is noticeable

THe only ones to go for are the inox iirc KWv1 which are stainless but other than that they are same again as Weitec GTs only stainless not galvanised

no i read something online somewhere that said they were the same, plus when i spoke to KW uk when arranging to get my v2s rebuilt they also expalained the different levels in the shocks, v2s used to have koni shocks, however they are now made inhouse by kw like the v3 shocks.

V2s offer a much better quality ride over the v1s/weitec gts as the have rebound adjustment too, the result is a better allround ride in terms of comfort if required, or aggresive driving if required.

Ive had weitecs and for the money are spot on PROVIDED you only lower the car by 10-20mm MAX over std. they are still very firm but really nice. the std setup on the vRS is not ment for lowering anyway as it throws the Wishbone angles out making for worse handling. THe only way to go if going low is something with bump / rebound adjustment. KWv3 have both and iirc v2 have bump only? Mark will be along soon to clarify lol

but unless you only going for looks keep the car around the std hight.

JOM are cheap for a reason and the last I heard about the AP stuff they are crap unless kept high. Might of improved since as it was a few year ago now think when they first came out? Everyojne has different tast tho. hell w#how people can ride around with their car on the floor is beyond me? handling is all shot to hell and the ride is like being dragged along the road on your bum with no carpet under you and only travel is the fat of your bum cheaks on the seat lol.

but some like it. Personally I am about the ride and handling with looks a very close last but still in the picture.

good luck tho mate hope things work out so you can keep the car. They really are underdogs.

Why go for the inox?

What is the need really?

Who constantly adjusts the height of their coilovers? Not me thats for sure. Set it right at the start to what you want and then leave it??

Just read online from a post from dpm who are suppliers that all kw's have better internals than weitec so a lot of information seems to be hearsay

I just went with what i know. Kw v1's are tremendous in whatever form stainless or galvanised and more than whats needed on a road going octavia taxi

Agreed. If you protect the weitecs or basic v1 then they will last longer than the internals.

I stripped my octy once a year to clean them up and adjust hight as i was too low and started experimenting lol.

Found they got better the higher i went. Still didnt get to std ride hight tho but close.

Its not the threads that really need protecting as they get crudded up anyway no matter what they made of.

As a mid range kit the weitecs are the way to go. Tried and tested.

But wht not try something new?

Lots more kits out there than there was when i was after coilovers.

Now tho I have the ultimate ones going on finally. They been in my spare room stood up since xmas before last iirc? Been a long time ne way.

Ha Ha I am hear buddy..

Billy has basically answered most of what I would of stated anyways.

To be honest a lot of it is hear say.

But in my experience kw v1's are far more than capable for a skoda octavia road car

Anything more is for track stuff

Agree with you on that

I have had around 6 sets of suspension on mine and have reviewed a number also.

Having had Weitec GT's they are more than capable for most users TBH. The only issue you will get with them as Billys stated is crashy ride and choppy ride on very low setting as the rebound can not deal with the car and surface to apply enough rebound to smooth the car out. As most users don't lower their VRS like I have they will not experience the issue so i still say Weitec are good. Also AP are the same but even worse when lowering too much. KW are a different league. The V1 are better than the weitec GT's hands down and I would recomend them all day long. You will get no issues lowering low with them. As AP,Weitec and KW are all made in same factory the AP and Weitecs have benefitted more recently for sharing more components with the upper level KW's like similar to identical spring rates but the difference is in the shock quality and characteristcs making KW a superior suspension.

I have V2's and love them. Yes they only have rebound adjustment and platform adjustment but this is eough for me. I have lowered mine to almost the bottom limit and they deal with the roads and motorways very well indeed.

Actually it is worth it as my Weitecs were starting to corrode after only 18 months. inox not really needed for the KW's though. And I am regulaly ajusting shock rebound and spring height as i mess a lot  track , road, motorways. family etc etc

Just fitted my H&R monotubes tubes today and are the best thing I have ever driven on by far cost around 870 from venom motorsport don't go cheap and cheerful as can't skimp on quality

Wow you can get v2 for about that.

v3 come in at 1100 or did when i got mine? Might be a tad more now.

went in a occy vrs on v2 kw's ride was awful might aswell of been running a solid bit of metal than suspension in my eyes but that's a personal opinion mind. everyone has their own tastes

they must have been set to their max setting as on mildest setting they are more comfy than the weitec gt equivalent coilover setup and the ap setup that i have tried.

Thank god seone has confirmed they not as harsh lol. Every time i see these threads i keep thinking i might of made a mistake goin v3 lol. Want car to be nice to drive too.

v3s are def firmer than stock, but better than the gts you had, way more adaptablilty

Had KW on my old GTi-6. Couldn't complain at all and the build quality was ace. Ride was great too.

I've had my Weitec Hicon GT's for well over 3 years now. Paid £490 for them back in the day.

I'd recommend them to anyone. Car's used as a daily drive and European mile muncher! It's been everywhere and through all conditions, so well tested!

Well if that is the case they were defo not set up properly. Mine are fantastic and give very good comfort even low as i have mine which to the weitecs could not get no where near with a low setting

+1

youe V3's will be great mate you have owned weitecs so you know that these will be better and far more options

stop shouting

but agree H&R spring are great with koni sports or FSD's if folks do not want platform adjusting and close to normal ride height. They are however more expensive now than a good coilover set up.
