Another reason not to bother continuing with F1...

Yeah saw that earlier, huge loss IMO.

I used to follow F1, but since Sky got involved I've not watched a single race.

Been following the BTCC, have to say I think it's rather good. :)

Me too. I've watched the BBC coverage when I've noticed it's on but otherwise not gone out of my way. I do find it annoying that WTCC and BTCC are on the same weekends :@

I will continue to watch whoever presents it, he is good though, a natural presenter with an amiable personality , I do not think Lee has great legs she defines a pear shape

If Jake "is there no beginning to my talent" Humphries is leaving the BBC to present Wendyball for BT, it will raise the average IQ of both organisations. ;-)

I stopped watching the BBC when they stopped broadcasting the races live. Why would I want to watch F1 4 hours after it happened?

Funny how when Brundle went to sky he was a "sell out" yet Jake chasing the money seems to be no issue. (not that I have an issue with either doing what they want).

I watch as much motor racing as I can get away with, F1, Touring cars, WTCC, Moto GP, British superbikes, I was even watching side car racing the other week. Stick an engine in something and race it and i`m there.

Ever watched any of this then ;)

Not really bothered with F1 in a long time now not sure why as I used to watch it religiously all the time, even staying up late to watch them live.

To be fair to Jake, he is also going to become a Father, perhaps it was a combination of the BT offer to present Football and the fact that F1 presenting means a lot of time away from home.

He will be missed though, after a shaky start he has grown into the role well (IMHO).

Who knows where F1 coverage will end up long term, the audience numbers have suffered from the high, when fully live on the BBC last year.

I hope Bernie and the Teams are Happy, and what ever Bernie says, I'm pretty sure that his hand weren't tied in the whole sordid deal.

My biggest disgust is still with the way that the BBC sold us (the subset) out.

+1 BTCC was always much more entertaining.

Also relatively in-expensive to go and watch live.

I usually get to three meets a year, my local at Thruxton and the other two nearest tracks (Silverstone and Brands).

Not made it this year due to various reasons, I'm hoping to do those three again next year.

My avatar picture is from Thruxton last year, Lewis was there to support his brother in his Clio races.

Me too - we do Knockhill, Croft and Oulton Park and it's much better being there...until we get smell a vision :giggle:

You can't beat the heady smell of hot engines, hot brakes and burning rubber  not forgetting the smell of frying onions and chips.

Jake tweeted the date his baby is due and after seeing next years calendar that's the Australian GP. Strange the Beeb couldn't find something for him to do other than F1 but now he's gone. He did allude to it when he was on R1 a few weeks ago talking to Chris Moyles about him leaving and said something along the lines of "Don't stay in a job you're getting too comfy in"

I've watched every race this season that's been on BBC but since I flat out refuse to pay for Sky I watch it by other means. Their coverage is crap and it's even worse on a weekend BBC have it too. They've been starting earlier and earlier every race day. Any earlier and they'll be interviewing drivers when they're still in bed soon.

Lee McKenzie would be a decent replacement for Jake. She's been good when covering for him and all the drivers like her, particularly the German ones. If not here then possibly Chris Evans or even Clarkson if he could time Top Gear filming with this. Him arguing with Eddie Jordan would be carnage. But neither are that young now

If Clarkson were to be the Beeb's F1 anchor that woould be the last time I watched BBC's coverage of the sport. He's a light entertainer with Peter Pan complex who tries waay too hard to stay forever young. He's a poster boy for the slogan "You are as old as you feel!" - 12 in his case ;)

This is the first I heard Humphrey is saying by by to F1 and boy I am glad Lee will be replacing him!

Will Buxton is out of a job with SPEED in the US and is a great commentator of GP2/3. He would be a good addition to the BBC team
