How big intercooler can you fit on a vRS?

Featured Replies

Hey there, me again with another straighforward topic!

I have started to look on what there is on the swedish market about intercoolers!

I haven't been able to measure up the space inside tho, so I hope someone has done it, haha =D!

How big intercooler can you fit without cutting away important parts?

WIdth and depth are the most important measures here as I've seen, since it's quite tight upfront!

guess mine is the bigest in hight, but working on a new intercooler atm.

Like I said at the top : width and depth.

Height isn't as much off a problem really, I just need to know how thin it gets where it is at it's thinnest and if I can remove ;)!

And no, all the info I need or want ain't in that thread ;)!

The biggest problem you will have is with the end tanks as they are different at either end, I have a forge intercooler which is there final product due to be available on the market quite soon and there biggest hurdle was the end tanks which held them back some time.

As of yeaterday i am now running APR stage 2 ron98 map, full milltek TB decat, custom intake and forge front mount..power figures are unknown as we speak but will be on the rollers sometime next month. :)

Okay, know how big it is?

Endtanks are a small problem, there is ways around that ;).

The measurement are in a post on intercoolers somewhere ill try and source it out later on

You mentioned above "without cutting away important parts" you'll end up with a butchered looking one like HG have on the market

Butchered one? The ones they sell are bolt on :S.

Now I don't follow you at all :p!

The plastic cowling the IC fits snug into is all cur out for the pipe work etc

talked to forge like 2 weeks ago and they told me that the intercooler isnt done yet and they expecting at least 3-4 more month untill it goes for sale

I've got there product on my car and also visited there stand at edition38 where also the same intercooler fitted to my car was on show to the public as fabia 1.4 tsi intercooler

You may be right I may be wrong, I was told when I collected my car that the IC fitted to it was their final product.

Hi Marc

Thank you for the enquiry.

This is an ongoing development and we are still in the process of sourcing the cast end tanks for batch production. It will be at least 2 months before we can offer a product and at this stage we do not have prices or a likely launch date.

Best Regards

John Withers

Or I just have to do it the old fashioned way... Cut and paste ;)!

that was their problem with the cast end tanks, their supplier they first had in mind pulled out for whatever reason then they managed to source a company to make a hand full (which lucky me one was fitted to my car). Now they can't find anyone to produce the final batch to supply the market with.
