Skoda Dealer v DTD

Featured Replies

I sent an enquiry form off to my local dealership (DM Keith) quoting the price from DTD on a TDi DSG:

Candy White

Light Assistant

Rear Parking Sensors

Black Alcantara

They quickly phoned me back and told me they had one in stock very similar and cheaper in price. Too good to be true I thought! I thought right... it had no light assistant and no factory fit rear parking sensors, although they did say they would fit them for me but am I right in thinking they will just be the bleepy ones rather than the on screen ones? It also had heated seats, which I find a bit pointless on a cloth interior but hey ho. So all in all it came to £17750, about £80 cheaper than the drive the deal price.

They then proceeded to tell me that DTD finance isn't competitive, they won't arrange my part ex and they don't offer 3 years free servicing...a lie?

All that being said, I've arranged to have a look at it on Saturday as they sound desperate to get rid and if they're desperate to get rid, I must be able to get some more money off. They said it was a cancelled fleet order and that it had delivery mileage and I would be first owner. I did fancy black alloys and although they're only £175 at factory price apparently, accoridng to the dealer, it would cost £75 a wheel to get done in their showroom. Would they do that to secure the sale? And is there any movement on their Skoda's 7.9% APR?

Lots of questions, sorry. Just need to hoover up as much info as possible before Saturday to go in ready.

I'm assuming you are talking about the vRS?

Just a thought but have you considered the Blackline? You would get leather instead of Alcantara, black wheels and Sat Nav and I believe they are pretty much the same price as quoted above.

I may be wrong, someone will come along to confirm!! :)

Personally I'd be telling them the price you want to pay and seeing if they match it- if not, walk away. Octavias are only going to get harder to shift as we get closer to the new car being released and the dealer knows that.

Tell him 17k all in with the OE parking bleepers and black wheels or no deal. Oh, and on any finance deal yes the dealer always has some ability to tweak the apr.

Yeah sorry, it's the vRS I'm after.

Hadn't considered the Blackline although I'm not sure I could get one for that price?

Thanks Rob. I'll bear that in mind.

Never bought new before so trying to haggle on price is an unknown concept for me. Plus I don't want to come across a total w****r either.

Check out http://www.skoda.co....es/default.aspx see the basic price for the Blackline DSG and you will pay that £18129.17

No VAT, £500 towards finance if you take it up and 3 years/30,000 miles servicing included. An absolute Steal!!!

Guess thats why they want rid of the Vrs

Rang the dealer back and asked about ordering a Blackline. I could hear his heart sink over the phone... Then he said he thought the VAT offer wasn't applicable to the Blackline.

I told him we'd discuss it on Saturday. Haha.

The APR is actually 7.3%

Can you not price up the blackline on dtd?

Can you not price up the blackline on dtd?

It's not listed unfortunately, otherwise that would be ideal.

I'm going to follow rob_e's advice and ask for it to be 17k all in. £17750 for the car he evidently wants rid of looks extortionate compared to the price of a Blackline.

I read a thread recently where someone negotiated the black Neptune alloys off a vRS sat in the showroom to secure the deal on the car he was buying.

Thanks Rob. I'll bear that in mind.

Plus I don't want to come across a total w****r either.

So can you explain what exactly it is that you're doing in your avatar then....?
