Dual Friction Clutch from CG Motorsport

Featured Replies

Right then folks

This is basically going to be a review thread for CG Motorsport but I'm going to start off with the journey so far

Ok so last week my clutch started to slip on my mk1 fabia vrs.. I was approached by Andy at CG Motorsport giving me the different options and prices they had :)

I was going to go for the stage 1 sport which is like a standard clutch with some uprated components which would be able to cope with the power... I'm running around 170bhp with about 300 ft/lb

Once I had made the decision on which one to go for (a few days later) Andy told me about this little project ;)

Basically something that's completely new... A sort of hybrid clutch! Dual friction!

I was asked if I wanted to be the tester for this, and I agreed as I have the full support of CG if we encounter any problems, but I'm not doubting them at all!

The clutch arrived today, only ordered yesterday about 2pm!!

It's going to be fitted early next week so once it's in I'll update further :)

That's a little taster for now... :D

Ooooo will watch and see then!

Hope it all goes well :)

Tomorrow is the day :)

Wish me luck peeps

Sounds interesting! Would be good to see pics before you hide it away in the gear box!

On a side note, ive just bought a 6 paddle from CG Motorsports, so will also put up a review once arrived/fitted.

Will try my best to get some... Will ask the guy in the garage to take some if possible

Mmm you lot have got me thinking now, what clutch is best for me? In the future if/when turbo goes I shall upgrade to a hybrid pd130/pd150 turbo.

Hi depends what power you are running and what your driving style is.

Just an update

The car is now all stripped in the garage

I just want to say a massive thanks to Andy who's helped me out loads so far, as I decided once I had the clutch I might as well do the dmf

Decided against a single mass as I do a lot of stop start driving

Really grateful to Andy who will have to dmf to me tomorrow

Right then... Bit of an update

All went really well with the fitting of the clutch and the service from CG is amazing!

I think the system may have had a bit of air in so Mick asked me to pop over today to have a look and see what could be done as the pedal felt like it was biting too low down

Left home at 6am this morning to get there for 8

As I turned up Mick turned up to open... Had a coffee first to wake me me up :)

Went out for a drive in the car to see if he could feel it too... When we got back the car when in and had the system bled (bearing in mind it wasn't CG who fitted the clutch, it was a local garage)

All seems better now and I just wanted to express how happy I am with CG Motorsport

Both Andy and Mick for sorting this out for me and being great about me bringing it in even though it wasn't fitted by them

All free of charge, just my time and diesel money but definately worth it

Even let Andy have a cheeky little drive in the vRS and I think it pleasantly surprised him ;)

Thanks a lot guys... Hope to see you all in the future

Also let me know if I can be of any help :)

As a posing driver of a Z4 I was loving the pure power of Simmo's VRs, what a car, quick of the line and snappy through the gears, very impressed. I hope I get the Missus out of her Fiesta and into one of them soon.

Thanks for the compliments :)

Compliment being that your fabias well suited to women? :D :D

Compliment that its rapid ;) lol

To be honest the Z4 is more suited to women, maybe I should get the Fabia and let her do the posing. She looks alot better in it than I do.....

Just ordered mine looking forward to having a clutch that doesn't slip :)

  • 2 months later...

Any updates on this guys?

Need to know as i am needing a new clutch but not sure which.

Paddle or dual friction.

Car is only stage 1 mapped and wont be going ne further and she is a daily mostly mways but some town stop start. The prices of the 8 paddle and dual friction is a pritty big difference if i dont need it.

Updates please

Hi Billy I sent you a PM this morning have you not recieved it?

Yea mate ive got it.

I jus did a search on the dual friction ones and found this thread and i just wanted to see how they are to lived with and how well they last.

Dont want to have to buy another in a few years if the 8 paddle one will last longer.

Will def be getting one from you tho and in the veru near future as its grtting bad now
