Collect in person or have it delivered?

Featured Replies

My car is almost ready for the delivery however I haven't decided yet if I should have it delivered on a trailer to the place where I live or I should go to Skoda dealer and collect the car in person. it's about 2.5hrs drive from the place where I live. Therefore I'm slightly tempted to have it delivered but I'm worried what happens if driver delivers the car and it's not right?

Any advices? Thanks.

Well, I think it has to go to the dealer coz he's got to carry out the PDI.

If it's not right then reject it, simple.

Makes no odds if that is when it has been delivered or if you find out at the dealership (you would of course had a 5+ hrs wasted journey)

Any reason why you think it will not be 'right'?

Are you sure it would be delivered on a trailer and not driven to you though? (not that it makes much difference)

Ignore me, lmb. I misread your post...you are talking AFTER the PDI aren't you. Sorry mate.

I've seen the car and from what I've seen it's the right colour, spec and extras are in place. But what I'm worried about is for instance scratches, dents, etc. These are quite easy to notice at the dealer ship but if car is delivered in a rainy day I won't spot them...

I don't know, I guess I'm just panicking :giggle:

Are they going to charge you for delivery? If not, have it delivered. Check it well before the driver leaves. You are legally protected against faults with the vehicle. If its raining and you cant see anything wrong, let the driver go but check it completely when its dry and take photos of anything you are not happy with.

Having said all that...I do think you are worrying unnecessarily.

All the best, lmb, and enjoy your new car...you will if its a Superb!

Regards.

I was told that the car will be delivered free of charge on the trailer. Well, we'll see.

BTW - Mike, are you happy with your TSI? I've also ordered 1.8TSI in Elegance spec...

Oh yes, lmb, I'm more than happy with my TSI. The reason I ordered petrol is because I don't do too many miles (about 9000 annually) and where I live is rural with no major roads or motorways so I cant travel at speed for any distance, and as you may know, that is not at all good for the DPF on a diesel car. As far as performance is concerned, up until I bought it a couple of months ago, I was driving a V8 Jaguar XJ. I would say that my Superb is on a par with that because of the turbo. It certainly shifts. You will be delighted with it I'm sure. The one and only prob I've had/having is the hardness and discomfort of the seats. I know a few others on here have too, but I guess many many more have not. Enjoy you new car, lmb.

Regards.

Thanks for this Mike. I did some test drive in TSI and I liked it much better then 170PS diesel...

Anyway - car should be delivered on Sunday morning. I've confirmed today with the dealership they will deliver it on a trailer.

However I asked about a DVD copy for navigation and heard that Skoda deosn't provide this anymore - is this correct?

Yes it is, mate. When you need an update just take it back to the dealership.

The dealer has to (and should of) ordered the disc at the same time as the car.

I guess I'll have to ask SUK directly after the car is delivered...

Had mine delivered on a truck - no issues.

The entire process was so simple. I never visited a dealership, ordered the car via phone and email and it was delivered on a flatbed, bang on time and in perfect condition. Delivery driver was a top bloke and really careful too.

I would collect it myself. That would be a good chance to get a nice, long trip in your new car :)

~ 130miles/210km trip on Monday anyway - but I get your point :giggle:

When I collected my Superb, I had a bigger distance than that - on a thursday! :)

I prefer to spend the time to collect the car with my family as I am all week away from them :giggle:

So after 4.5 month of waiting, my Superb was delivered on last Sunday.

I am rather happy bunny apart a few small issues (when you open door in the rain, water comes from the roof and pours into the car :wall: , or this switch for heating mirrors :wall: ).

Can't test it properly yet but there is an improvement over Vectra. And yes, my 3 years old son can't kick the back of my sit  . Last Sunday he spent something like 10 minutes stretching himself to the limits and finally gave up as he was not able to reach the seat - so happy days proof of concept was proven  .

Will post some pix later when I find some time to take them.

BTW - regarding the delivery - everything was OK, so shouldn't be in doubt in the future :hi:

Some pics :giggle:
