2009 Yeti 2.0TDi 4x4

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Can anyone tell me why Skoda changed the front subframes on the Yetis from aluminium to steel for the 2010 model year?

I am hoping to buy a 2009 4x4 elegance and I would like to clear my mind that there was a serious issue with the original models' subframe.

Cheers

Pete

Welcome.

I have asked the mods to move this to the Yeti section, where you will get a definitive answer.

I'm sure that The Plumber will be along to clarify the situation, but I think it was nothing more than a production change, possibly to something already in the VAG camp. It was not because of any reported problems.

Probably to do with keeping production costs down

Yep, id say cost cutting and thats not just because I own an earlier example. :)

I had one of the first Yetis and ran it for 3 years with no problems. If I were you I wouldn't be put off.

Many thanks guys for all your replies. I guess I was feeling a bit nervous, being my first Yeti and all. I am now going to go for a 2009 2.0TDi 4x4 Elegance in Met. Aqua Blue next week that I have seen in Kent.

Should be no issues with the cast alloy frame it's been around a long time. New steel frame also introduces a new wishbone and rear console bush design, which in my opinion slightly improves the ride/handling but that's not to say there's anything wrong with the original; as stated it's well tried and tested.

Oh the new design came in part way through MY11 in August 2010.
