Error Message

Featured Replies

Hi There

Finally got my Candy White Superb Estate on Monday, and what a car it is!!

I just have a quick question if anyone out there can help.

When I turn the ignition off, I get an error message on the MFD saying 'Deadlock Error - Check Owners Manual', however I can find no reference to deadlocking in the manual.

The car is a 2.0 TDI 140 DSG 4x4 if that is of any relevance - has anybody any idea what it could be, or what I am doing wrong?? It is the first time I have owned an automatic.

Many Thanks

You are not doing anything wrong, they all say that now. <br />It is just reminding you that when you lock the car normally (one press of the remote) that the car will be deadlocked, so anyone left inside the car will be unable to unlock the car in an emergency.

Mine does exactly the same and it had me wondering too!

I did once lock my wife and my dad in our A4 while I nipped into Meadowhall with my mum.

Came back to horns and flashing lights as well as two cheesed off people who couldn't get out of the car or turn off the alarms! Good idea, that reminder...

Are you sure it doesn't say...`Check Deadlocks` rather than `Deadlock Error`? `Check Deadlocks` is what mine says and is quite normal.

Sorry, yes it does say 'Check Deadlocks'

Couldn't remember exactly what is said when I posted and was away from the car so couldn't go check

As long as it is meant to say that then I can stop worrying

Thanks for the advice
