Wheel help

Featured Replies

Will a ET47 17" alloy wheel with 205 40 17 Tyres fit my Fabia? If they do need spacers, what sizes are we talking.

Thanks for any help or input, Lee.

Hi Lee,

Standard Fabia VRS wheels are ET37 iirc so an ET of 47 needs 10 mm spacers to bring them back to standard but you could use larger if you wish.

Cheers Karl, I would be running spaced adaptors anyways as they are 5x112 and Fabia is 5x100 fitment.

So they should be fine.

Arse I'm struggling to find some adaptors that can be used to space the front wheels out 10mm, don't want to go anymore than that really on the front. As the wheels will poke too much and stones will damage my paintwork.

Shouldn't be a problem as I run Octy Spiders which are ET42 so they are 5mm more in than standard so I have fitted 12mm spacers which has the effect of moving the wheels out 7mm and I do not have any trouble with stone chips but having said that I have do have mud flaps fitted.

U will not get adapters less than 15mm.. decent ones such as H&R only got as low as 20mm for safety reasons. This will make the et27 which is fine at the back but u will need lower profile tyres at the front ie 195/40.

Get sum pics up of the potential wheels bud ;)

I'm currently on my phone at the mo so can't provide a link but they are In the for sale section, the BBS CO 17" 5x112 ET47 alloy wheels.

I'm bored with my spiders and they are really common, I can see why though they are the best OEM+ wheel, suit the Fabia to a T.

I just fancy a change for next summer as the above wheels will be summer wheels. The originals will be going back on shortly.

I have sourced some 15mm FK adaptors for the front end, would these be ok and safe?

They will be fine m8. If they dont have steel tread inserts (like the H&R ones) then u just need 2 make sure they are tight every so often. Because the steel wheel bolt is tightened into the ally adapter then it can loosen off (over a long period of time)

They will sit nicely but if u wana go lower then id recomend 195/40 tyres for the front to prevent scrubbing ;)... shud b ok at lowering spring height tho

The next thing is what colour do I get them freshly refurbed in? Fancy something funky! Decisions decisions. Centre caps are a little bit more than the Spider centre caps lol.

Does anybody know if I can use the existing wheel bolts for above wheels? Cheers.

If they are bolt in adaptors, standard length bolts should be OK. It can depend on the wheel as you use tapered bolts in some cases, and some oem use bolts with a rounder connection to the bolt hole.

Thanks Jason much appreciated. Need to find out if I can get a Mcgard locking wheel nut kit for my car also.
