hints or suggestions on how to mend sliding caliper pin ?

Featured Replies

Anyone know whats the best way to mend the caliper sliding pins ? recently i heard a rattling on the front end and on inspection i noticed the sliding pin was out of place, on a more detailed inspection i noticed that the thread on the hub carrier was non existent and i was able just to push it back into place, after doing a few more miles under some normal braking it managed to free it'self once again, i'am wondering if there is any way to fix this without replacing the hub carrier ?

Thanks in advance

Depending on how bad the thread is there are things called helicoils that can be used, I think they tap the hole out to a larger size then insert the coil which is like a threaded collar then refit the pin. Not sure if they are ok for use on brakes but gives you something to ask garage about.
