My new Yeti is actually on the way to England, only ordered it in October last year, (thanks Autofinder!!), I have the tow bar prep and have been quoted for a detachable towbar, but do I get a swan neck or flange type? I'm not planning a caravan, just a trailer or a bike rack. What do people think, which looks best, what useful. (they have quote for a Witter)

I think there's only one flange type detachable unit made and it is pricey. Flanges apparently open up the options with respect to things like bike racks, but there are racks that'll go on a swan neck. If you go flangey then you can have a bike rack AND tow something simultaneously.

Looks are probably the last thing to think about, since a detachable bar will presumably only be in place when in use, so will have a rack and/or trailer attached. When not in use you can remove it and store it away and nothing can be seen (without crouching down). A swan neck will be easier to store in the boot than a flange.

Swan neck IMO

Get a swan neck - it will be completely invisible when removed and the panel put over the hole. With tow bar prep, you will mostlikely have a 13 point cpnnection, which needs an adapter to the 7 pin standard for light trailers. It's no big deal and works with the various interlocks built into the vehicle CPU.

check out the prices - they are expensive - and you will not believe why they charge so much

so if you are paying such a high price the extra £200 ish may be worth it to get the Skoda, (well mine's an Audi), detachable type with the correct connections to the car's electronics

Swan neck every time. The Westfalia/Skoda one is a swan neck with the added plus that it has a storage space already in the boot. Only downside is the price.
