diesel filter

Featured Replies

How do i go about changing diesel filter? my previous Skoda had a canister type filter, looking at the filter on this car (06 tdi) is it just an element needs replacing

thanks

Yes bud, looking at the car it's on the front left. There are three types so be prepared to get given the wrong one. Undue the five torx keys on the top and then it lifts off. If its tight there is a notch where you can put a screwdriver in to lever it up. Once done, replace the filter and seal. Try to fill it up with as much diesel as possible before replacing the top. 10 minute job.

Skoda recommend 60,000 miles between service. It's rubbish. I bought mine with that mileage and it was fuel starved and would not rev. They need changing every 10,000 miles max, the crap that runs out was like dirty oil. No wonder it did not run right.

Thank you erindad. Really good video.

How much is the part (roughly)?

Edit: just found several sources online - the answer is lractically free (£5-10) for manns filters, and not much markup for 'genuine' VAG versions. On the basis that mine won't hit 60k for quite a while (currently at 35k) I reckon I'll do this shortly

Thanks for help, job now done

Around £17 from a dealer for a genuine filter, really easy job and quite satisfying.

Instead of filling the canister up with diesel you could fill it with liqui moly speedtec or millers, this will add to the whole idea of a clean, smooth running engine.
