Fabia 1.2 estate

Featured Replies

Well guys the parents are looking at getting a 2007 fabia 1.2 3 cylinder with 100k on it and am wondering do you have any opinions on them good, bad or indifferent?

Do they give any trouble and what are they like as a car?

Thanks

There don't seem to be very many 1.2 owners on here, but I'll try to help.

My girlfriend bought an 05-plate 12v version in Feb this year, on about 98k miles at the time.

Very few problems with it since. Did need a replacement EGR valve though.

I've not seen much info on high-mileage reliability; it would be reassuring to hear of a few examples pootling around with 150k on the clock, but most are a bit young to have done that many. Rumours abound on the internet about troubles with timing chain and tensioner, but I suspect most are just 're-posted' rumours. Being a very late example, a 2007 should have the improved tensioner design, though I don't know what changed about it.

Averages just over 40mpg tank after tank when driven 'sensibly'.

My girlfriend loves it, I like it when I borrow it. I may even buy one when I replace my '91 Mk2 Golf in a year or so.
