Nintendo wii U

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen the news video for the new Nintendo? For a company which brought about a revolution in game play where users can move in real life and control the game, they have certainly took massive leaps backwards! I can't see the point of it when others (Xbox) have brought out a motion camera to track you in the game, Nintendo instead give you a oversize controller that looks like its from the 80's with a built in screen that just shows what's on the TV anyway. You can't take the controller away with you you have to sit at the base console and TV? Plus they are still going on about mario brothers etc with the same 2D movement and rubbish graphics. I think I would rather have an old saga game gear.

I personally dontunderstandhow Nintendo can keep training when they are just bringing out rubbish products. What's everyone's else's thoughts on the device?

Consols are becoming more niche. Everyday gaming is moving onto smartphones. People just don't see the point of taking a chance buying Little Jimmy a game at £30 for an Xbox or PS when they can spend £3 on one for his phone.

Casual gaming was very much Nintendo's market so they're going to get hit more than MS or Sony who still have the hardcore gamers to fall back on.

You can still use the current wii mote and nunchuk with the new cosole i think for some games so for the likes of tiger woods it will still be good plus it will now have decent graphics. I think the new controller is catering to the current trend of ipad / ipod touch screen type of casual gaming. Even the PS vita has these touch screen elements its just the current fashion when it comes to gaming. The wii was a novlety and offered nothing to the hardcore gamer, the new wii U should rectify this with titles like assassins creed and the likes. It will still have kiddy games but at least its a viable alternative to the xbox and PS now. The problem is that its technology only marginally surpases the current xbox and PS3 so when the xbox 720 and PS4 come out ( or whatever they will be called) the Wii U will yet again have obselete technology. I am seriously considering buying a WII U but i will definately get the next XBOX so not sure if i can justify having 2 consoles especially as my time playing them is limited now since my bairn arrived.

With games like tiger woods utilising the already amazing motion plus controler and other games being played on a more standard controller like my xbox i think the Wii U has all bases pretty much covered. Clever move on their part i think. A lot of kids who grew up with Wii's now also play games on smartphones etc so i can see them sticking with the brand they know especially as they can now play touchscreen games similar to what they currently have.
