Brake upgrade caliper options

Featured Replies

I have settled on a NQSBBK for my car and am waiting for the VBT fitting kit from DaveB to arrive. I was umming and ahhing about it and settled on the 4 pot upgrade after considering the weight and cost of the S3/R32/Cupra kit. Not only that, but I would have ended up buying a new set of 345mm discs and pads to suit as I don't like the idea of using second hand consumables so the cost would have ended up about the same.

Sort of, but I won't torment myself any further.

I have been considering 986 caliper options and will have to buy used, but plan on having them inspected and rebuilt with new seals, etc.

Prices for a rebuild and repaint vary from £200 to £300 - I can buy a set of rebuilt and refurbished calipers for £500 delivered (that makes me feel a bit ill :D) which would probably not work out to be about the same as buying a used set in need of rebuilding and all the to and from posting.

There is also the option to paint myself and then have them rebuilt but that might not save a lot of cash I don't think.

Thoughts?
