Front wipers again octavia 1

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Been on before about this issue.First of all it's not got rain sensing wipers and it's had a new front motor it's had a new relay (12 months ago)and a new rear motor in the last week so all 3 out of the way it's worked fine for 12 months or so until today when i pulled the wiper stalk down to sweep once and it went 3 times then the int position when you move the setting switch on the top of the stalk made the wipers move on each setting i.e. no interval. Now i have seen on every thread about this problem that you get a sticky deposit in the relay housing but the new relays are none serviceable and cannot be accessed as they are sealed units within the housing. Now to the wiper stalk just what is inside this is there a control unit built within it?????? as i cannot get anything out of vw or skoda about what actually controls the wipers you must have a control unit sending a signal to the relays/motor so it knows what to do.Is this part of the relay unit if so why is it a relay unit not a control unit.So could my problem now be the stalk.

Cheers.

No harm in trying a good squirt of switch cleaner into the stalk. This can cure issues with crazy indicator chatter.

Otherwise maybe there is an issue with the park sensor in the wiper motor assembly.
