Octavia 2011 VRS DSG Side Lights

Featured Replies

Hey all

Just a quick one.

Ive had my 60 plate VRS just over a week now and im loving it.

I noticed today that when i turn my side lights on, the running lights dim but the side lights do not come on!

Full lights and full beam are fine.

Ive looked in the manual for the fuse but not having any luck finding it.

Has anyone else had this problem and do you know where to find the correct fuse?

Thanks in advance.

The sidelights in the headlight on the vRS are present but not wired up.

As you've already spotted the LED DRL's dim to perform the function of sidelights.

The 5W sidelight bulbs in the headlight are there to fill the holes only.

Some member on here have wired them up themselves, but I don't see the point.

They'll only detract from the cool looking DRL's B)

It's so they don't have to make different head light units for models with DRL's

The DRL's on other Octavia's extinguish completely when sidelights or dipped headlights are switched on so the sidelight bulbs in the headlight are utilised.

It's only the vRS that uses it's DRL's for sidelights too.

Strangely though the redundant sidelight bulbs fitted to the vRS are blue, whereas on all other Octavia's they are clear.

Why fit different bulbs if they'll never work :smirk:

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Thanks for the quick response. I wasnt aware of that.

Neither was my local Skoda dealer, who recently gave me an advisory that the sidelights weren't working on my VRS :giggle:
