Mapping @ 100k

Featured Replies

Is it a dumb idea to map the car at 160000km ~100k miles?!? I've had the car for about 5months and it could really use some more beef!!

Everything is original, clutches and all.

It has an engine doesnt it? Then it needs modding ;-)

You will be fine, service it before getting it mapped and check the cam belt has been done. Then make sure you get the oil and oil filter changed on time once it is modded.

I had mine re-remapped to 203bhp @ 120k. As long as it has been looked after as Cookie Monster suggests above it should be fine.

Mapped my mates PD100 at 140K, 20k later and still going strong, just needed suspension work

I've mapped at car which had 260k on the clock. Turbo was showing signs of sticky vanes.

Mine done at 163K only wish it had been done at 100K (or earlier!)

Dont re-map! :)

May cost you more in the long run, Check out all the posts about blown turbos on here... When asked if Mapped they always reply yes.

Just my observation.

Standard cars blow turbos too

I agree - however the car has been designed for performance but not to be too heavy on the parts. I do agree parts can be safely mapped but it puts more strain on them.

See how many posts are our there with turbos blowing on standard Fab , VRS.

Also depends how you treat the car surely.

Just sell up and buy a faster car

Agreed. As my mechanic puts it:

"Turbos blow, and they blow."
