Felicia 1.3 MPI Engine Change

Featured Replies

The gearbox failed on my Felly 1.3L (AMG engine - 135B - 40KW). I have another Felly 1.3LXi (AMH engine - 136B - 50KW), so I put that whole AMH engine in the 1.3L body but it will not run properly with the 50KW ECU??? If I put the 40KW ECU in it, it runs fine??? Do I need to do something to make the 50KW ECU work with its own engine?

When you say "properly", do you mean it starts and then dies straight away? If so then the problem is the immobiliser - you need to get the immobiliser unit in the car to talk to the new ECU. I know it can be done with freely-available software (VCDS, or rather its previous version, VAG-COM), but I don't know what you have to do specifically to get it to work. If you do a search on here for VAG COM and immobiliser then I'm sure something will turn up.

have you got the black immobliser box + Chip From key On the 50KW ecu

Thanks djay. Yes, exactly that. Have pm'd a local guy with VCDS/VAG-COM to see if he can help.

Thanks uma. I have the key from the 50KW ecu, in fact I have the whole car. Where do I find the immobiliser box?

The Immo box is on the left-hand side of the steering column. If you take the shroud from under it, you should see it, it's a small black or brown box with two screws holding it in place, and 2 cables - one goes to the ECU, the other goes to the sensor ring round the ignition switch. As uma said, if you swap that over, then it will work straight away, once you swap the chip over from the donor key into yours (the chip is inside the key, a small glass tube). Either way (transferring the immo box or doing VCDS) will work just as well.

if you change the immobiliser box and chip you will be away immobiliser box is where

djaychela said i use 2 ecus in my car and i have to change over this way as to code keys you need the code supplyed buy skoda when you buy car and skoda no longer have them :-)
