I know the subject of armrests has been done to death somewhat, but (and I have searched!!) i can't find any info on whether an armrest from a MkIV Golf will fit the Octy.

So, has anybody done this? Or can someone categorically state (rather than speculate) whether the Octy and Golf items are interchangeable?

(I have a colleague at work who has a golf with an armrest, but for some reason he's unwilling to allow me to take it out to check!!)

I was gonna answer but you said you wanted someone to categorically state, and whilst I'm pretty confident I don't think I could state categorically. I've had a Golf and Octavia, both with armrests and have removed and refitted in both of them so have a pretty good idea. What I can say is the mountings are the same for sure, as are the lids. The rest appears identical as would be expected but you never know and without having them side by side I can't say for sure.

I'm 99% sure it'll fit but I'll state categorically that I ain't stating categorically that it'll fit.

However these are very popular with Golf owners so providing it's genuine (not one of the many fakes on ebay) you'll have no trouble selling it.

Thanks - I think this is as close as I'm going to get.

I've seen the fake ones on ebay but there are a few claiming to be genuine at the moment (although how you tell they are on ebay i don't know).

The other line of thought is that there are probably more scrapped Golfs than Octies (is that the correct plural?) so it'd be easier to source (although that doesn't seem to be the case at the moment).
