Cheap Factory look satnav

Featured Replies

Another one here using a £50 satnav propped up in the dash cubby hole. Twin USB charger in the 12V socket does satnav and phone at the same time. Only problem sometimes is glare on the rare sunny days.

I'm trying to find the best holder for my Sensation XE to put in that cubby that would allow me to run the power cable down the back of the dash. This way, it would be charging and I can see track details when streaming BT and handy sat nav on the once in a blue moon occasions I would need to use it.

I have mine held up by velcro in there I really need to sort out a bank of USB style power sockets on a switched supply though (Garmin, dashcam, phone) ... That said I recently tried Google maps navigator android phone, and the instructions were better than Garmin and the Garmin maps were not that old.

Google maps are pretty accurate. Living in Northern Ireland the need for a satnav is limited to say the least, so Google on the phone is ample. I have to admit, I'm looking forward to the day a head unit is essentially a 5 or 7" tablet slotted into the dash board with 3G/4G, wifi, bluetooth, voice commands, DAB, full diagnostics etc. As it stands, I need a nice tidy way of putting my phone in the dash top cubby that keeps it stable and charging and doesn't look out of place...
