Anyone else pop the sat nav in the dash mounted cubby hole

Fools everyone into thinking you shelled out thousands for the pop up version

Its a perfect position.... why pay over a grand for the built in one?

Well done Skoda!

Yeah I do the same. (even though I've got sat nav built in. It's crap)

I've routed the lead up the back and through the box. :-)

Yes mine is in there too, but more OE looking as it's hard wired.

;)

I've tried this with my Garmin but it is not very stable and falls out when accelerating.

How have you over come this problem ?

Blu-Tack :D

Thanks, I'll give that a try tomorrow.

OK, I'll look into that as well, thanks.

my garmin came with a round self-adhesive disc - i pulled out the rubber mat and stuck the disc to the base of the cubby - nav mount fits perfect there suckered to the disc.

i also drilled a small hole in the base of the cubby and i run my wire up there from behind the dash - its wired in to a switched live so the garmin starts/shuts down in line with the vehicle ignition just like an OE nav nav.

HTH.

Just a query

How can it be "factory look" when no Skoda has ever come out of the factory looking like that?

Surely it's more non-factory look?

I use the mount disc that came with my Garmin and stuck it to the underside of the lid

Perfect placement

I don't know about sat nav but I'd say it's made for IPad:

I like that! Is it stable / held in position? Have you run power to it too?

Why not just black out the whole windscreen and fit a fly-by-wire system from a Eurofighter?

Well, I ask you

Why stop at an ipad........get a much bigger map from a 17.3" laptop, who gives a stuff how much it impairs your view of things around you?

Staggering

You just can't tell these days, Chris :wall:

Yes it's stable, it has a Velcro strap around to top box lid and iPad case so won't go anywhere. I've not run power too it as yet as I don't use it like that if I can help it because it does distract and block the forward view somewhat. Might put a power socket in top box just in case I do need to power it at any point.

Maybe use the built in camera for this?

Don't worry guys I only use it to watch catchup tv when life in the third lane of the M1 gets a bit boring ;-)

I'm sure Anddenton isn't planning on driving with this in place!

But, as a spot for the iPad, this isn't a bad shout. Movies, Internet etc etc whilst queuing for a ferry or similar. Would keep the kids happy.

So many are so critical on here!

But, as it's a navigation thread, I can understand where you're all coming from......
