Fabia VRS what are they good for

Featured Replies

Hello there,

looking at buying a fabia vrs still, trying to justify whether spending say £2500 for one with more mileage or say 4k on a vrs with under 100k,

what are the main points to look out for with the higher mileage Fabias, Ideally i want to go hybrid 200 plus bhp so id be replacing the clutch anyway, i will be having the cambelt and waterpump changed for peace of mind

any feedback would be appreciated cheers Steve

I wouldn't let the mileage worry you. 1.9tdi pd130 was designed to be driven many millions of miles, just look out for the common faults and make sure the gearbox feels fine and you should be alright

The engine should do twice around the clock easy but weak areas are dual mass flywheels and sticking vanes on the variable geometry turbo. Ask if the car gets lots of decent runs and check that it has been serviced regularly using the correct 5w 40 505.01 oil. That special oil is critical for the long life of the engine. Otherwise all should be fine :)
