Sync Files? - USB > PC > Online

Featured Replies

Hi,

Im trying to sync some files from USB > PC > Laptop > Online but not sure whats the best way to do it.

So, Online apps like Box etc can sync PC or Laptop > Online.

But I want a standalone app on my USB to sync USB > Laptop or PC. When I plug in USB I want it to talk to laptop or pc and sync it.

Does that make sense? Or have I looked too deep into a solution and theres a simple one?

Thanks!

I've used GoodSync in the past.

You could use something like Alwaysync to do it between the usb and the PC. If have something like dropbox installed it might recognise it as a drive and sync directly online

Allway Sync seems to do the job for now, but is there something I can install on the USB and it autoruns syncing function? Rather than having the sync program running and detecting when the device is plugged in.

That'll depend on the USB. Is it a stick or a larger drive?

Some of the sticks are U3 which mean they can run programs on themselves. I'm not sure how well used it is or if it was a tech that fell by the wayside.

[clickity click] Ah, discontinued. If you can get hold of a U3 compatible SanDisk this might work for you

Otherwise I think you'll have to rely on the software being on the PC/laptop.

Its a portable drive, it has the autorun.inf but it doesn't pop up the icon for autorun (has other things like windows media, open folders etc). checked the inf and it seems fine. :(

Edit: Pah, would've thought a simple script can do it but it seems not. Shall stick it on the pc and laptop then till i find a device with U3 tech.
