Newbie VRS issues **UPDATE**

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Had a quick look but not much came up so thought i would put up my 1st official post!

I have recently picked up my 04 vrs. Its got a few minor issues but nothing too bad:

Plugged in my Satnav this morning and it wouldn’t take any power!?! just to make sure i tried my phone charger too and this didn’t work either so im assuming its the socket or the fuse??

My rear washer jet doesn’t seem to work, when i pull/push the stock i can hear the pump (like when you try and spray the windscreen but you have no fluid in the bottle) but no fluid appears. I have made sure that the washer bottle is full etc.

Bulb out warning light is on although all my lights work, Had a look and a lot of people say it can be to do with the wattage of the bulbs so will check this. Any good ways to test this?

Thanks in advance for any help guys, been on the site everyday in the lead up to getting the car and you all seem like a very knowledgeable nice bunch!

The washer pipe may of came off in the boot some where. Don't keep spraying it as it will soak the boot! Take the cover off the bottom of the boot lid and have a look. It it's not there it could also be at the pump end.

May sound silly but did you have the ignition on/car running? The 12v power outlet will not work anyway if not...

...other than that, could be fuse/damaged wiring...

Cool, mines doenst light up so it could well be the fuse. Does anyone know if it has its own fuse or shares one??

**UPDATE**

Changed the fuse on my lunch and i now have a working cigarette lighter  Also went to a dry part of the carpark and tried to use my rear washer jet and there was a puddle under the front of the car :rain: so will try and get in behind the bottle and find out where the issue is at the weekend.

I have 1 more issue that is bugging me but is half in the process of being fixed by the garage i bought it from. The car only came with one key which when i got it would not remotely open or close the doors/boot even though the little light flashed on the fob. The car briefly went back to the garage to have the key battery changed and re-coded but the salesman said the fob was knackered so ordered me a new one. So at the moment every time i open the car door manually the alarm goes off for a few seconds until the car is fully started. Anyone had this issue??? to hear that someone has would take a weight off my shoulders

cheers

for the washer... do a search on here. I'm sure theres a post with pictures somewhere that actually shows a pipe that runs down the back of the engine bay with a tee-piece in it that can pop off. That may be your issue if the puddle is at the front??

glad the fuse was the issue with your ciggy lighter by the way :-)

For the washer, it can come off by the bulk head in the engine bay (right hand side), or behind the front passenger arch liner. Easy to see which it is if you can get someone else to spray it for you. :)

Just undo the lower 3/4 screws on the liner and you'll be able to see the pipes. If you can't work it out, just get someone else to spray while you watch.

Yep - tis normally by the bulkhead behind the glovebox where it enters the car! Tis behind the ECU and above the ABS unit. The two ends clip together, can be a bit fiddly and require some force. You'll know if it is wrong as it will just spring apart again the second you spray!

Cheers guys really appreciate it. Will get the Liner off at the weekend and get it sorted, fingers crossed it’s just popped off. Once I get this key thing sorted and the opportunity to get the car properly cleaned I will be a happy VRS owner

Have you checked your brake lights as the warning alarm is for those too? (as I found out... Eventually!!)

How do you mean Jars?? All my rear lights are in working order but in all honesty they seem a bit dull?? does the alarm sound if theres a bulb out??

Ah wouldn't be your problem then as the brake light bulb would have blown and not working at all.
