Hi allI have a skoda Octavia elegance tdi CR registered this year and would like to knowhow to turn off the beeping sound when I lock or unlock car, as don't like to annoy neighbours during the early hours.

I'm unsure if this can be done by the user or not, or wether is can be done through a main dealer with the right equipment.

It's only a quick 'chirp' and I'm sure your neighbours will not object too much.

It's a normal noise, just like the engine starting or the clank of a gate being closed.

I'm sure they will all get used to it.

Have you got maxidot? (I'd guess the elegance may well)

If so, you can do it from in there - i think it's comfort (or convenience) then ATA Confirm.

From the manual:

Here you can set if a signal tone should sound additionally

when activating or deactivating the anti-theft alarm system

you can also do it by using a VCDS lead + software

My last VRS didn't have maxidot so the dealer switched this on for me.

New one does so sorted it myself.....

Funny my beeps/chirrs are very silent, sometimes I can´t notice them is at rear of car.

I got the feeling you need to change settings on vcds.

If you don't have maxidot, then have a look here and see if there is someone near you with VCDS.

Are you sure you are not a little known actor trying to remain covert? It's a good thing you don't have a vrs otherwise you'd have to remove the spoiler. Do you have a fetish for vegan leather?

If you are in the West Yorkshire area I dont mind having a go at switching this off for you. I have VCDS.

I also want to disable this chirp on my 2012 superb- do I need to find a VCDS? I don't have maxidot (?)

I honestly don't know why anyone would want to deactivate this as its a good audible indication when locking the car that all the doors are closed properly ... I've often went to lock my Octavia and when it doesn't beep I've found one of the passengers hasn't properly closed a door
