19 X 8

Featured Replies

Just a few questions for those who have 19 x8 alloys.

1. How adverse is the effect on handling?

2. Have you noticed any difference in decreasing fuel consumption due to the added weight?

3. Running on 235/35/r19, does the speedo need to be recalibrated?

4. Would 245 profile fit on the rear without rubbing on the arch lips (lowered by and inch) ?

Just realised the alloys are actually 8.5" wide, would they fit within the arches?

That would cause a few problems at 8.5 inches wide I think.

8.5x19 may be a bit too wide,i run 8x19 withh 225/35/19 tyres with no problems, monkey boy runs his on 235/35/19 i beleive and his is lowered a lot and i still dont think he has any issues with clearance although it is close so 245/35/19 may be too wide also i would think but to answer your other questions then handling is affected a little bit but then im more for how the car looks than how hard it can be pushed round corners so its not really an issue,i havnt noticed and increase in fuel consumption and dont think the speedo is out and if it is then i wouldnt think it would be out far enough to cause problems

how about accleration did you notice any ill effects?

not really noticed any reduction in acceleration but if there is it must be very insignificant cos it still feels quick

i think as long as the offset is right and the tires arent too wide then you should have no problems fitting 19s to an octy, mine fitted straight on and do not catch even when car is fully laiden or in full lock,my car is at the standard ride height at present so i dont know if theres any issues when lowered i beleive monkey boys octy has no issues with rubbing even though its very low but im not definate and to be honest ive never known any problems with abs after fitting them plus the rolling diamater should be roughly the same anyway

not sure really as im not that knowledgeable on offsets but any reputable company should supply you with the correct offset wheels and all i can say is that i ordered 19s for mine and that they fit perfectly with no rubbing and that im not aware of any issues relating to ABS problems, mine stops fine and cant see any reasons why the wheel size would affect it but im not that technical so i cant say 100% yes or no

Hi sorry for the delay.....If your car has ABS and you gone for 19" without any ABS problem......Then i will also fit the 19" ........

I have seen this link how choose a wheel ...If you have time take a loke at it.....

For quick ref...

When making a wheel choice, most people choose to upgrade with a wheel/tire package that is usually one or two inches larger in diameter, i.e.: going from a 13" wheel/tire package to a 14" to 17" package. Generally, the overall rolling diameter remains the same so that it does not affect ABS brake systems or the odometer, but the vehicle will have a wider track and perform better. This is accomplished b lowering the profile height of the tire and increasing its width. An example would be to take a 195/65R15 tire with a rolling diameter of 25.04", and increase to a 17" package, i.e.: 225/45R15 with a rolling diameter of 24.98". This would add approximately 1

are monkeyboys real S8 alloys or copies? as the real ones are 8.5x19... They should fit on as I've seen the real ones fitted to Golf's.
