Got in the car this morning and noticed the rear window dirty, so as you do you give it a clean. as i looked in the rear view mirror i could see there was no water on the window just the wiper going.

so took the car into the works garage and started to have a look. checked for water in the boot, nope. water in the bottle, yes. so at this point i thought it had to be the jets. Removed the the black cover to see the jets, this is the part were skoda have a great idea for jets they just pull off, so you can stick a needle in 80psi with the air line, and bobs your uncle. rear washers working better than ever, so i think i will be doing this every couple of months now, so i dont get the dreaded loose pipe. Sorry if it's a bit long winded guys.

I've had a blocked rear washer jet replaced twice under warranty. Read on here that the trim is a pig to remove, so better off getting the garage to do it (plus it's under warranty).

The dealer claims the blockage is down to using 3rd party washer fluid. This annoyed me a little, I appreciate there are formualtion differences, but surely most are just solvent plus a little surfactant. I've been using the Lidl stuff diluted about 10:1, far from concentrated that could cause massive buildup unless the jet is already predisposed to this sort of issue (or they have no real idea and are just fobbing me off). On the other hand I don't want to be replacing the jet every 6 months and the dealer refusing to foot bill because I haven't used Skoda wash fluid.

There's hardly anything I can fault with the car, but this one grinds my gears!

How do Skoda know you havent got their screenwash in the bottle?

They take a sample and send it to the Factory for testing.

Wrong screen wash and they bill you. You have been warned

And remember urine is not classified as screen wash (unless your in France)

I may be wrong but I believe the main difference is in the antifreeze properties/ingredients, i.e. methanol/ethanol/saline/etc. use the wrong stuff and it crystallises in the jets, clogging them.

TBH I've always used the VAG stuff in both my Octy VRSs partly because it is a lot better than the blue stuff and not particularly expensive at a could of quid a bottle. Both of them have still had the rear washers pack in though - but I live in a fairly hard water area......
