105 tdi new or pre owned

Featured Replies

hi all after reading all the post on this forum i am going for a fabia 1.6 tdi 105 ,but would i be better of with one that has 5-10k on the clock, all the negative post seem to come from owners of new cars, and all positive posts seem to say the car is better with miles on the clock.

cheers

I haven't had any issues with mine - 4 months old so far, 6000 on the clock, still loosening up.

Given the VAT free deal (if it's still on) and the fact you may find a registered one in the system, you could probably pick up a new one for used (ish) money.

Also though, I haven't seen any issues on here (less for the occassional DPF gripe), so what did you mean?

cars will always loosen up the more miles you get on them... dont expect to get quoted MPG figures in a new car, after about 10k they give up the appropriate figures :)

and that just leaves whether you want a brand new car or not? normally you save money by buying with a few thousand miles on... but as PDIBK says there are some cracking deals on at the moment!

As the others have said with the no vat I got a new Monte for just under £700 more than a 10,000 mile year old car, I've not had any issues yet but mine only has 1800 mile on the clock

The issues are re the running in of a new engine it seems that you need to get a few miles on the clock to get the best out of the car .

Just short of 4000 miles on the clock of my new Monte TDI, no issues here so far but one of the reasons I bought new was for warranty. I took the five year deal and three years free servicing in the hope I have a few years of trouble free motoring.

Previous to this I had an Astra which every year cost me vast amounts of money and got sick of the head aches it caused.

I have the same engine in the Leon. If driven properly you can get decent MPG. I regularly get 65mpg from a tank doing 70mph on the motorway.
