Bonnet release lever (external one!)

Featured Replies

Hi,

Could anyone point me in the direction of the part number for the plastic lever which pops out the front grille to open the bonnet?

Was giving my car a look over the other day and noticed its started to crack. I don't want it to break as i can imagine its pretty tricky open the bonnet if it snaps! It looks like its just plastic and can be removed easily.

Thanks!

Have a good look it may well have the part number stamped on it.

Should be on the part somewhere since you have to take it off

anyway, just a 10 mm nut and a little wiggle and it'll be off.

DO NOT SHUT BONNET when its off, you'll

have a pig of a job getting it open if you do.

Main dealer will be able to give you the part number if not.

I suspect there are may be two different types as the slats on the pre and

post facelift grilles are different. Are your slats dead straight or curved slightly?

Curved is post facelift, straight is pre facelift. Check before ordering but

I suspect the part number will be on it. They are tougher than they look by the

way, our old fabia had one that looked like it was going to break for 4 years

and never did.

On the diagram below it's part number 5 called the release handle.

Do a Google on Audi TPS for nearest one . Give them a try .if they can't find ther part no on their system , they'll have a look at your car to see which part you need. I've used them twice .once for a flexible fuel hose which main dealer wanted £160 & 2 hrs fitting ( came back as "fuel hose, cut to size) and a caliper bolt - that took seconds to find . All they need is your reg .Might say Audi ,but they are VAG experts.

Large zip tie through the grille if you have to take it off and drive. Best to use a bit of duck tape or similar to hold said zip tie from disappearing through the slats.

Quick question the original grill on my 54plate fabia vrs was cracked so i purchased another grill not knowing that the new grill I purchased must have been off of a post facelift as the grill slats are sloped rather than straight. so in order to open the bonnet i would have to purchase a newer release handle?

many thanks

steve

There are 2 different ones for the mk1 Fabia. If I remember correct the part numbers are the same but one has a 'A' after the number for the facelift grille.

Do you know if the operating bracket is the same on both the facelift and the pre?

Yes, the operating bracket is the same, just the release handle is different.

The facelift release handle is part number 6Y0823463A

Enter that part number into the search box here  :)http://www.skodaparts.com/product-finder
