Hello peeps...

Just wondering if our alloys are prone to failure, so corrode and loose pressure? or is it more likely my tyres?

checked them tonight and they were down to 20 psi on the front which I only reinflated 2-3 months ago back up to 32psi

The rear two seem to be fine and have only lost a small amount of pressure but they are a proper brand whereas the front two are just budget... So I'm hoping it's just the tyres

Could be the place that fitted them didn't clean the rim properly before fitting, or a lil bit of corrosion

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

I had this when i had a set of avon tyres fitted and found it was just the tyres unseated on the rim

Certainly happened to my Spiders. All the paint was flaking off inside the rim. Easy thing to check- pump the tyre up and wet it with soapy water. If its the rim you'll see bubbles around the edge. My local tyre shop refitted the tyre FOC (including cleaning up the inside of the rim) after I helped the owner program his sat nav. Otherwise your talking less than a tenner to sort.

My Spiders were wrecked when I had my winters fitted a fortnight ago. Took my guys 2 hours to fit by the time they'd cleaned up and re-sealed the inside of the wheels. They'll be getting a refurb next summer...

Just bought a set of MkIV golf alloys and god knows what tyres to fit to mine while I have mine refurb'd. I keep going down to about 14psi on the front left in about 3 or 4 days, and the front right isn't much better.

They look like some arse has given them a quick blowover, ON TOP of lumpy crap and brake dust, and they're flaky as all hell. :(

My local tyre fitters reckons skoda wheels are the worst he's come across for corrosion. One of mine was corroded on the inside

Ooh, I dunno, the wheels fitted on my father-in-laws Celica (last shape, 130bhp model) were the worst things I ever saw. Be bought it brand new on a X-plate, and had 3 NEW sets of wheels on warranty (4 sets in all). Within a year they went pasty, then flaky every time. Nice wheels when new though... but obviously crap metal, polished and lacquered.

Alloys by their very nature will corrode though. Just by having two different metals in contact with each other.

You can get the tyre place to clean it up and then refit the tyre with bead seal.

bit early and warm to fit winters at the mo dude, take it easy as they can wear fast in the warm and wont work as well till the temp is down to about 5degs.

They've been awesome so far! I've been on dual carriageway at 13 degrees and they're fine. After work at below 10 they're genuinely amazing.
