Ciggie Lighter

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm new here and was after some advice from the experts if I may!

I have just bought a 2001 Octavia Ambiente 2.0 Estate and love it. One of the few faults it has is that the Cigar Lighter doesn't work. I initially assumed it was the fuse, so went to replace this, only to find that there wasn't one in the slot for the lighter. "Great!" I thought, so I stuck one in the hole, which promptly sparked and blew. I then tried another fuse which done the same, as well as noticing that there was smoke coming from the lighter itself. So was just wondering if anyone could advise me what could be the problem? I'm thinking it's the lighter unit itself.

Thanks in advance guys!

While the fuse is removed you could try cleaning it out.

If that doesn't work then a pop to a scrap yard and get another to swap over with the one you have, it's not a hard job at all.

Thanks for the advice......just realised I probably posted this in the wrong place! Sorry!
