Yellow Oil Light

Featured Replies

I haven't posted in a while, but could do with some input on this.

Yellow oil light came on as I got to work this morning.

Am I right in thinking this is for oil level? And not oil pressure?

Would I be OK to drive it the 10 miles home if the dipstick level is fine?

Any help appreciated.

Edit: This is for my 2003 Octavia vRS

The yellow is oil level, the red is oil pressure. It's the red one that usually comes on when they suffer the oil pickup problem.

You should find if you open and close the bonnet the yellow light will reset itself as it's designed to turn off when the bonnet is opened (it assumes you top the oil up) and then it will only come on again after 100km if you still haven't topped the oil up.

It sounds like the oil level sender could be on its way out.
