Skoda Octavia Elegance 2.0TDi PD few niggly issues!

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have bought a Sokoda Octavia Elegance 2.0 TDi on 17" alloys and few other gizmos. The drive is really good I have to say. However I have noticed few things that annoy me to bits.

1.Seat belt warning light and Chime comes on on whilst driving especially on corners and roundabouts.

2. Airbag warning light is on, does anyone know a VAG-COM person I could see in Berkshire - Reading area?

3. Drivers side rear parking sensor is intermittent once works once I get a constant beep and screen shows I'm just about to smack something which is of course not true.

So my questions are simple what is the best way to go about this? I have rang a local garage and they have quoted me £35 for the diagnostics test for the Air Bag light Does anyone here knows someone in the Berks area I could go and see?

The seat belt warning light and chime is mostly annoying I have read that you disconnect two blue wires under a panel under the drivers seat, but then you loose the warning that you should put on your seat belt which is a safety feature of your car and should be fully functional.

Lastly has anyone replaced any of the rear parking sensors? The one on the rear drivers side is not making the clicking noise. Can I get one off ebay or do I have to go directly to Skoda? Can you also get it pre-painted etc?

Many thanks for your help

1. Likely to be a loose connector between the belt buckle and the floor connector. Happens as the seat moves back and forth and can wear. So either get that repaired, or the safest way to avoid the error is to disable the warning using VCDS if there's someone local to you. Depends if you want the warning or not really - personally I have it disabled as I'm fully capable of remembering to put my belt on :)

2. Best idea is to scan the car for errors, to make sure that's not something more serious. If you check the VCDS section of the forum, there's a sticky for a list of members with VCDS across the country.

3. Likely to be a faulty sensor, they do fail from time to time. They can be replaced individually. Again, a VCDS scan will reveal more info about that problem.

Wardy many thanks for your time replying to my questions.

With the parking sensors issue where can I get them on the cheap any ideas?

You're welcome, any time :)

Sensors I'd probably have a look at eBay or maybe some salvage places. Never had to swap one myself.

Have a look at http://www.hills-motors.co.uk/ - they're a really good place and have decent stock levels. Always helpful too.
