So then.....

Featured Replies

Right so, I picked up my 2005 superb PD100 1.9TDI last night, I knew it had a few issues which is why it was cheap....

I've got it booked in for a full service at Skoda in Hull tomorrow, with an extra couple of hours of diagnostic/fixing time to deal with some of the things, here's a list:

  • Driver's window doesn't open (I found some other posts on here about windows so i think it's a common problem?)
  • Top of windscreen had a leak (the guy fixed it with silicone sealant, so it doesn't let the water in but looks a frickin mess)
  • Needs a new airbag controller (although the Skoda garage might say it's something else once they've investigated)

They were the things I knew about, since driving 50 miles yesterday and 120 today, here's some more:

  • The light in the boot doesn't work
  • the interior lights work (i tested them before I bought it) however they don't come on when you open the doors
  • the rear demist (or whatever you call it) is a bit rubbish

After finding some advice on here I shoved my hand in the vent under the passenger seat but couldn't feel any dampness, but i'm wondering if it perhaps had a bit of egress in before, hence the lights half working?

Other than that, the car's in really good condition, 72000 miles on the clock, it's a bit low-spec compared to other superbs i've seen but hey ho, it's my first one!

It drives really well too, I had a 2.0 Peugeot 307 before so thought a 1.9 might have less power but that doesn't seem the case. And the handling seems to be better than the 307 rather than worse, although I haven't tried throwing it round any B roads yet...

So, a few problems to sort, but like i said, I got it cheap so i'm expecting to spend a bit on it to get it fully functional, I shall keep you all updated!

Cheers,

Devilman9050

Oh, and there's a strange lump under the carpet on the driver's side, is that normal??

Glad you like it so far.

Strange lump under the carpet? No that's not usual. Maybe the carpet has been up before for water ingress, and not put down properly?

cheers

Vag 1.9 > PSA 2.0. You won't miss the Pug engine, I've driven many diesels and the 1.9 is by far the best.

My Superb was super cheap as it had a few problems. Only cost me £1700 :) I've slowly fixed things. Only thing left is to fix the driver door so the lights come on when its opened. Fix the boot light so that works when the boot is opened. New windscreen (has a crack). Parking sensors don't work and its losing coolant slowly too.

Other than that as an all rounder it's amazing!

And once your used to the big long body it's actually okay on a B road.

Nothing like my Cooper S but its really okay!
