Columbus - Day & Date?

Featured Replies

I have setup the date in my Columbus Sat Nav - options of D/M/Y or M/D/Y and entered the correct date. How do I get it displayed on either the maxidot or the Columbus? When you are not using the Columbus for navigating/radio/music it would be nice to display the time in analogue (not that tiny one in the centre of the screen!!), day, date, and temperature.

SWMBO is cross that she can't see any of these! In her Peugeot 807, it has a 7" screen the same as the Yeti, but can display a large analogue clock (always correct! feed from Sat Nav), full day month and year, temperature, mobile phone strength signal, plus digital clock - all in colour!

Have you tried asking this in the ICE section?

My initial thoughts are you can't.

Thanks rockhopper, but no luck so far. It seems strange that it ask how you would like the date displayed and has a screen to enter the date - for what purpose if you can't see it...

I have to admit that I've not yet found a reason to set the date on the Columbus either (although I have).

If you mark your position in the satnav, it gives it a name that includes the date and time. That date comes from the date set in the system (just tried it).

Apart from that, can't think of any other reason for the date.

Seems odd, most Sat Navs that I have ever used source their time from the satellite signal which is how they know what the official "lighting up" time is each day and toggle the display to night colours accordingly.

The formatting option makes more sense however.

As the Columbus is integrated into the car, it 'decides' that it is night time based upon whether you have your lights on or not!

Actually quite annoying if you've put them on for visibility in daytime (e.g. foggy conditions).

I agree; but if you go into setings there is a box to tick so that the screen stays in day-time! I now tend to have the light switch in the off position as apposed to auto as it tends to keep turning the xenon's on and off as the foggy conditions change.

I was a bit miffed on TIBET II to find that the satnav day/night screen was no longer connected to the light control as it was on TIBET I - it now does its own thing. Result was to put it onto permanent night mode as it's less intrusive.

At first, it also annoyed me that it wouldn't stay at the zoom setting that I wanted and so I gave up and put it into auto zoom mode. This seems dependent on road classification and actually works okay. Bit like the auto wipers, cornering head lights and fog lamps - I have to admit they actually work very well. I do like to be in control of the headlights though - the sensor is clever but doesn't do visibility, only ambient light.

Talking of lights, anyone thought about the SuperSkoda LED DRLs...?
