Wheel advice

Featured Replies

I will pick up my new superb in dec/jan and will bring it back to Germany so I need to sort out my winter tyres. Unfortunately my rims from the 3 series won't fit so I'm on the search

A workmate has a set from his old passat and I'm trying to workout if they fit. The size info is,

205/55 R16 96H 6.5J x 16H2

If they're from a Passat the PCD will be correct so they should fit fine :)

Would it depend how old the Passat was, or have VW used the same settings for all generations ?

Unless it was pre 96, then it will be the same PCD - 5x112

I'm just being nosey coz I dont need wheels/tyres...but what is `PCD`?

Pitch circle diameter. In other words, the diameter of a circle in which goes through the centre of the bolt holes. It's in mm.

Superb has 5 bolts, in a 112mm circle, so 5x112 :)

Well, you learn something every day. Thank you, `Softscoop`

Don't forget the ET value! If you want to use these winter tyres with snow chains, the ET value must be between 45 and 50. If you don't want to use snow chains, the ET may be as low as 35.

The default ET value for your Superb with 205/55R16 tyres is ET45.
